Our Crowdfunding Groups
We are a team of civil engineering students at UNC Charlotte who are a part of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). Our group participates annually in the regional conference called Carolina's Conference where we compete against other local universities with respected engineering programs.
This year's regional Carolina's Competition is being held on April 2-4, 2020 at University of South Carolina. We are crowdfunding to help pay for construction materials for the canoe, steel bridge, innovation prompt, along with competition materials and travel expenses for the 40 plus students we send.
UNC Charlotte first started participating in concrete canoe competitions in the early 70's, the steel bridge competition in the late 80s, and the innovation competition in 2019. Last year, UNC Charlotte won the overall regional competition (beating out teams such as NC State, Duke, Clemson, and USC) along with winning first place in Steel Bridge, Concrete Canoe, Innovation, t-shirt competition, and Freshmore Challenge. All three teams went on to compete at Nationals where the Innovation team brought home first place. We hope to continue that legacy and inspire future engineers with our success this year and every year.
Your donation will help cover the cost of construction supplies, like wood, nails, face masks, grinding wheels, gloves, paper, and poster board.
Your donation will help cover team swag such as t-shirts, polos, and presentation attire.
Your donation will help cover the cost of new tools and accessories such as drills, welding wire, gas bottles for welding, and display costs.
Your donation will help cover the cost of concrete mix materials, steel for the bridge, and supplies for innovation prompt.
Your donation will help us pay for hotel and travel expenses to send the 40 plus students to regionals.
