Thank you for supporting the #GivingTuesday project benefiting Veterans Services. I am happy to report that we not only met our goal of $2,000, but thanks to an $800 matching gift challenge by veteran alumnus, Mr. William Crowder, we have exceeded our goal to raise $2,800. Veterans Services will now be able to purchase 14 smart pens to help create an ideal learning environment in the classroom for Niner student veterans.
Your support will make an immediate difference for our student veterans, and for that, I thank you.

We had a successful #GivingTuesday on campus today as Niners signed 1,500 holiday cards to send to our North Carolina National Guard troops deployed to Bosnia. We were also able to collect $170 in donations for the smart pens thanks to our ROTC and student veterans volunteers. We are 25% of the way to goal with plenty of time left. The United States Marine Corps Birthday is celebrated every year on the 10th of November with a traditional ball and cake-cutting ceremony. On that day in 1775, the Continental Marines were established.
UNC Charlotte was founded after World War II in 1946 in response to rising education demands generated by the war and its technology.
The Army Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC), as it exists today, began with President Wilson signing the National Defense Act of 1916.
Nearly 450 student veterans currently take advantage of GI Bill and educational benefits at UNC Charlotte.
